Haddon Heights Soccer Club

Travel Program

Haddon Heights travel soccer provides the opportunity for teams from our club to compete against similarly skilled teams from other clubs in the South Jersey area.

Travel teams are determined by tryouts. Tryouts for the next fall season occur in early Spring (April/May).

Our teams compete in two primary leagues - the South Jersey Soccer League (Boys) and the South Jersey Girls Soccer League (Girls). Together, these leagues consist of over 70 different soccer clubs fielding over 800 soccer teams from as far north as Princeton – to as far south as Cape May.

Players in these leagues are grouped by age and skill level.  The youngest age division is the U8 (Under 8) division for both boys and girls, which is for children who will turn 8 years old in that soccer year (August 1 to July 31). Players in the SJSL and SJGSL can continue playing as they advance through high school.
Practice is usually twice a week in the Fall, with one of them being run by a professional trainer from the Diamond Soccer Academy.
Practice is usually once a week in the Spring.

Girls travel games are Saturday late morning though afternoons (10 week schedule).
Boys travel games are Sunday late morning though afternoons (10 week schedule).

Q: What are the costs associated with playing travel soccer?
A: $325 (as of 2023/2024 Season)
Plus ~$100 for uniform (good for two years.  Therefore its $50 per year, or $25 per season))

Q:  What do the travel costs cover?
HHSC covers a lot of costs with that fee.
-  Ref fees for the Fall Season ( ~$600)
- Trainers for the Fall Season ( at one practice per week )
- SJSL/SJGSL Player registration for the two seasons
- Portion of the facility utilities
- Equipment purchases
- Paint purchases to line the fields
- Half the tournament fee for one Fall and one Spring tournament

Q: Do you offer payment plans/financing?
A: Absolutely,  please work with the Club to work out a plan that works for you.  The costs of travel should never be the reason you are not playing.

Birth Year Information

It has been decided by NJ Youth Soccer and all of the associated leagues (SJSL, SJGSL, MAPS, EDP, JAGS) to implement the Birth Year and Small Sided changes starting in the Fall 2016 Season.

The Player Development Initiatives Handout has the most information and should be used as an overall reference.

There is also a Frequently Asked Questions document from US Youth Soccer.
