Coaches Licenses

Receiving a coaching license is an important commitment to helping young players learn the game of soccer.  Travel Soccer Coaches are required to have at least completed the F License Course, however we encourage Recreational Program coaches to also obtain.  For more information on many topics and to register for an F License Course, visit the NJ Youth Soccer website.  HHSC will reimburse the costs.

New Coach Guide

Coaches in the Travel Program do have additional responsibilities, in addition to strictly coaching the team during practice and games.  HHSC attempts to reduce the amount of administrative tasks, however some things are required to be completed by a coach.  Below is list of items, in chronological order, of what to expect when volunteering.

Early Summer:
Teams will be formed for the upcoming Fall Season and HHSC will be looking for coaching volunteers.  Selected coaches will have to obtain an F License before the start of the season (Weekend after Labor Day).  Team Registration will also occur at this time.  This is what officially registers a team with the league.  It also is where division level requests are made. You will receive a login and password from an HHSC Travel Representative.

Late Summer:
August 1st is officially the start of the Playing Season.  Each team's roster will be available in the Got Soccer website.  The two leagues that the HHSC Travel Program participates in is the South Jersey Soccer League (SJSL) for Boys and the South Jersey Girls Soccer League (SJGSL).  Please refer to these sites regularly for official league announcements, rankings, schedules and overall information for each respective league.

Each coach will need to assemble a player pass packet and submit to the District Commissioner.  Good instructions for this are here.  A team roster and player passes are required to be stamped by the District Commissioner prior to the first game.  A coach or player without a stamped player pass will not be allowed to participate in the game.

Fall:
Practices and games will have begun.  Coaches will need to fill out a Game Card and provide it to the referee before each game, along with referee payment.  HHSC will provide each Team Head Coach with a check for the total amount of referee fees required for the Fall Season.  Game Cards will be available at a League Meeting prior to the start of the season.  A digital copy of the Game Card, which can be filled in, printed and taped to the actual Game Card is here or here.

Winter:
In early January, Spring Season registration is required.  As required before the Fall Season, each coach will log in and submit the team information and playing level request for the coming Spring Season, which usually starts the first week of March.

HHSC will not provide referee fees for the Spring Season.  Coaches will be responsible for collecting payments from each player and providing to the referee at the beginning of each game.

Spring:
Practices and games will have begun.  Coaches will need to fill out a Player Evaluation Form and provide it to a HHSC Travel Representative before the end of the Spring Season.  Player Evaluation Forms will be used as input to the Player Evaluation Process that will be used to form teams for the following playing season.
